The Gotthard Tunnel: Between Fiction and Reality

On Sunday, 27 September at 3.00 pm, the Castello Visconteo in Locarno will host the second event in the interdisciplinary series Musica e Letteratura, dedicated this year to the Gotthard, featuring the writers Zora del Buono and Alain Claude Sulzer. The special guest at the event will be Rolf Bächtiger, a former tunnel builder whose experiences at the Gotthard Base Tunnel inspired numerous episodes and characters in Zora del Buono’s novella “Gotthard”. During the afternoon, the author will read some excerpts from the book, a story that weaves together reality and fiction to bring to life the world of the great Alpine construction site and the people who worked there. The Wind Soloists of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana will provide the musical accompaniment.
