classicAscona – a new perspective for Ascona Music Weeks

The year 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for the traditional Ascona Music Weeks. From September, the festival will operate under the name classicAscona. With a new name, a new structure and a stronger artistic profile, it will combine its 80-year history with a contemporary festival concept. Continuity and renewal are equally important. In the future, classicAscona will present itself as a compact festival of international caliber. Over three weeks and four weekends, about fifty events will take place at more than twenty venues in Locarno. The program combines concerts of the highest artistic caliber with new interdisciplinary formats and a focus on promotional programs and innovative mediation initiatives.
