Giorgi Gigashvili learned to play the piano without ever considering a professional career as a pianist. His passion lay instead in singing and arranging folk and pop songs from his homeland. At age 13, he even competed on the Georgian version of “The Voice”—and won! Even after winning the show, Giorgi Gigashvili continued his classical training.

With his program “Georgian on My Mind,” the Tbilisi-born pianist embarks on a journey of discovery through diverse musical traditions. Gigashvili combines folk-inspired piano works by composers such as Frédéric Chopin and Johannes Brahms with his own arrangements of Georgian folk songs, performed in a soft voice by his partner, Nini Nutsubidze. Gigashvili’s jazz improvisations on the piano add even more depth to this sonic universe.
