Concert information
In October 2025, Richard Galliano released a remake of his legendary album “Journey,” originally released in 1993. Listening to the original studio recordings again, Galliano felt both joy and a tinge of nostalgia. He thought in particular of departed musicians Pierre Michelot and Charles Bellonzi, with whom he played alongside virtuoso guitarist Biréli Lagrène.
These memories have come together in the new album “New Viaggio,” serving as a tribute to the past and a bridge to the future. Says Galliano, “I am happy to continue this musical journey with new companions, Adrien Moignard on guitar and Philippe Aerts on double bass. Their talent and sensitivity give the compositions a new dimension.”

Richard Galliano is the only concert accordionist to have recorded for Deutsche Grammophon. Working closely with Astor Piazzolla in the 1980s, he later performed with musicians including Chet Baker, Charlie Haden, Ron Carter, and Michel Portal. Venue information: Chiesa del Collegio Papio, Ascona
The Chiesa Santa Maria della Misericordia at the Roman Catholic secondary school “Collegio Papio” is a Renaissance-era building, renowned for its impressive altarpieces and wall paintings by Giovanni Serodine (17th century) and Marco D’Oggioni (16th century). Because of its size and excellent acoustics, the church is regularly used for concerts, including major concerts organized by classicAscona. The College’s other premises host master classes and other side events.
