Their music is performed on period instruments, with soloists such as Julia Lezhneva, Cecilia Bartoli, and Max Emanuel Cencic regularly appearing as guests. Il Pomo d’Oro is a renowned early music ensemble, and runs the Baroque Academy at classic Ascona. Named after Antonio Cesti’s excessively long opera, the ensemble has won numerous awards and was nominated for a Grammy in 2025.

Maurice Steger is regarded as the leading recorder player of our time and has redefined the instrument as a solo medium. He performs worldwide as a soloist and conductor. Ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Il Pomo d’Oro, and the Kammerorchester Basel perform regularly with him. In 2021, he was awarded the Herbert-von-Karajan-Preis. At classicAscona, he leads the Baroque Academy.
