The music is performed on period instruments, with soloists such as Julia Lezhneva, Cecilia Bartoli and Max Emanuel Cencic regularly appearing as guests. Il Pomo d’Oro, a renowned early music ensemble, runs the Baroque Academy at classicAscona. Named after Antonio Cesti’s excessively long opera, the ensemble has won numerous awards and was nominated for a Grammy in 2025.

Maurice Steger is regarded as the leading recorder player of our time and has redefined the instrument as a medium for soloists. He performs worldwide as a soloist and conductor. Ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Il Pomo d’Oro and the Kammerorchester Basel perform regularly with him. In 2021, he was awarded the Karajan Prize. At classicAscona, he leads the Baroque Academy.
