Project Overview
The festival’s closing concert coincides with the final act of the Ascona Choral Academy. The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, a prestigious Ukrainian youth orchestra, has been largely living in exile since the beginning of the war and is now forced to rely on residency partnerships in order to conduct its rehearsal activities. Through this partnership, the festival aims to send a clear signal of solidarity and humanity. Under the direction of Oksana Lyniv, the orchestra will tackle Antonín Dvořák’s Stabat Mater together with Nigel Short and the Ascona Festival Choir, integrating this project as a central element of the Ascona Academy.
